Located
on a three-acre site in the Ken Caryl Business Park Center, the
Society of Economic Geologists new international headquarters was
designed and built by Buchanan Yonushewski Group. Completed in the
fall of 1999, the 17,000 square foot building is the home to the
Society, the Society of Economic Geologists Foundation, and the
Economic Geology Publishing Company. The prairie-style design is
reflective of both the site and the history of the Society, which
was founded in 1920. The feature element of the building is the
main conference room which links the administrative and publishing
wings of the building. The conference room ceiling rises through
a series of stepped soffits towards the exterior wall, culminating
in a 34 foot wide by 17 foot high window wall that provides dramatic
views of the golf course below and the Front Range beyond
